PROFILE

The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is a leading technical university in northern Europe. The institute DTU-Aqua conducts research and provides advice on fisheries stock assessment and management, aquaculture, and is EU Reference Lab for Fish and Shelfish Deseases. DTU-Aqua also delivers fundamental understanding of the marine environment and sustainable exploitation of living marine/fresh water resources (in support of MSFD GES and UN SDG14).

INVOLVEMENT IN CLAIM:

DTU-Aqua is a core partner mainly involved in macro litter transport simulation (WP1), demonstration of efficacy of litter cleaning devices and ferrybox data collection (WP3) and leading WP4 on assessing the influence of marine litter on ecosystem services.

INFRASTRUCTURE:

The institute has access to high performance computers, data storage facilities for hydrographic data sets, lab facilities to analyze biological samples with various techniques and optical and spectral equipment for microplastic characterization.
