LOOPS: Into the planet of the future
After successfully carrying out a series of eight outstanding webinars LOOPS marked the end of season one. To celebrate the accomplishment of the inspiring live streams, the initiative published its first article, which summarises the insightful outcomes of all of the online discussions. The public initiative LOOPS is being organised by the International Research Organisation – Veltha and is focused on showcasing the research results that Horizon 2020 is producing within the field of circular economy. By exploring state-of-the-art technology and fostering knowledge exchange in Circular Economy-related issues, LOOPS is encompassing all sectoral and cross-sectoral works that are committed to achieving circularity in their CE-based field.
Being named “An eye-opening journey into the planet of the future” the publication presents the most important outcomes of the first season of LOOPS webinars. Throughout each of the eight sessions, representatives of various Horizon 2020 projects have been invited to discuss the pressing topics of marine pollution, water management and waste management technologies within the Mediterranean region and Europe.
Each episode of LOOPS consists of a live conversation with leaders of two Horizon 2020 projects, where each project leader showcases the main insights of their work. Along these lines, guests at the third LOOPS webinar, which took place on 17 March 2021, were CLAIM’s project coordinator George Triantafyllou and project manager George Triantaphyllidis, together with PlastiCircle‘s coordinator Cesar Aliaga. During the episode, all parties engaged in an insightful discussion on the topic of plastic pollution, and the various innovative ways to prevent the spread of marine litter. In such a way, both CLAIM and PlastiCircle raised awareness towards the environmental issue that plastic pollution is.
