CLAIM engages young students in the mission of clean waters on the occasion of World Water Day

An insightful presentation was given by CLAIM’s project coordinator Dr. George Triantaphyllidis, to the 5th grade students at the 2nd Primary School of Ymittos, Greece on 19 March. In light of the World Water Day on 22 March, Dr. Triantaphyllidis (Hellenic Centre for Marine Research), engaged the pupils in productive discussion on the various threats plastic pollution is posing onto the seas, and the innovative ways to prevent it.

The students were introduced to the issue of marine pollution caused by plastic and the role of the CLAIM technologies in dealing with it. It was also emphasised on the great importance of the collaboration of different scientists from all over Europe and the multidisciplinary approach that must be followed to provide effective solutions, as well as the need to implement innovative ideas.

The purpose of the virtual session has been to raise awareness and for the young population to understand the magnitude of our responsibility as a society to protect the environment.

Many thanks to the 2nd Primary School of Ymittos for allowing CLAIM to participate in their online classes and for the kind cooperation!
