CLAIM raises awareness towards plastic pollution at Greek primary school

On 24 November 2021 CLAIM’s Project Manager Dr. George Trianthaphyllidis gave an insightful presentation to the 4th grade students at the 1st Primary School of Imittos, Greece. More than 20 pupils had the opportunity to learn more about plastic litter pollution in the marine environment and how CLAIM is contributing to keeping seas and oceans plastic free.

In an easily to understand and engaging manner, Dr. Trianthaphyllidis introduced to the 4th graders the main principlesthe specification of the CLAIM developed technologies and how they work in order to ensure the prevention of plastic particles to enter the sea and ocean debris. Moreover, CLAIM’s Project Manager raised awareness towards the potential steps that the youngsters and their families can take in order to reduce the plastic pollution, such as recycling and a conscious change of our everyday habits.

CLAIM’s presentation at the 1st Primary School of Imittos was part of the project’s initiative to engage young pupils and raise public awareness towards the importance of marine plastic pollution. In March 2021, CLAIM visited the 2nd Primary School of Ymittos, where the 5th grade pupils were engaged in a discussion on the various threats plastic pollution is posing onto the seas, and the innovative ways to prevent it.
