BlueMed 2020: Plastic-free for a healthy Mediterranean sea

For the third time in a row, CLAIM participated in the BlueMed event on 20 January 2020. This year’s edition is a pilot action, called “Plastic-free for a healthy Mediterranean Sea”, which focuses on displaying the plastic litter challenge and related concrete actions in the global perspective.

Mediterranean countries’ experts and stakeholders met up in Venice, Italy, to continue the cross-border coordination to tackle the threat of plastic litter, stepping from exchanging and learning good practices to scale-up operational actions. Over 100 participants from policy, NGOs, science, industry  and media gathered together to tackle plastic pollution issues threatening the Mediterranean sea.

Via national hubs established at country level, progress is expected on integrating knowledge and innovation in a circular economy and green deal prospective; promoting recycling systems and technologies; supporting sustainable growth in the marine and maritime sectors; creating new “blue” jobs; inform policies; develop solutions to meet the opportunities; engaging citizens, raising their voice.
